I was recently searching for a good owl headband pattern to knit for a friend who dearly loves animals. Search and search, I finally found one I liked, but it involved short rows, and I could not understand the directions the designer was giving. Could have been a problem on my end, but I'm short on time leading up to Christmas, and I needed something that wouldn't take me forever to knit. I decided to look for a hat pattern with owls, and either just knit enough to be a headband, or to actually knit that hat. I loved how it was turning out, but unfortunately it was going to be much to big for my friend. So, I put my brains together and re-wrote the pattern for a headband where the owls go up the head sideways, rather than around the head. I like the way it turned out, and it worked up really fast. You don't really need to apply eyes to them, but you can if you desire. I tried but the ones I have are too large and made the owls look a bit creepy. Please note that the owl cable is not my own. I just adjusted it for my purposes. So, without further ado, here is the pattern. Have fun!
